The week of Lindsey and Clinton’s family session was cloudy, cold, and wet. I watched the forecast all week and prayed that the weather man really was right about the sun coming out on Saturday. We decided to shoot the session at Arbor Hills Nature Preserve, but we were a little nervous with the amount of rain we had if it would be too muddy, because mud and kids of any age go together too well.
I pulled into Arbor Hills Nature Preserve just before sunrise, and I could see that the sun really was going to come up. As I walked around, I found the perfect spot where the light would come through the trees in the most beautiful way. The ground was wet and I could see the dew on the grass, which gave the most magical morning “fog”. I couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful setting and the most gorgeous family for the morning! Lindsey is an interior designer, and their outfit choices for the shoot showed her eye for design and fashion.
This was my third year to photograph this sweet family, and it is so much fun every single year. Every year there is bribery, every year we throw leaves for genuine smiles, and everywhere new memories are made. It’s a blessing to do this job, to meet new people and watch their love unfold, but it’s even more of a blessing when those people become friends. Thank you Lindsey and Clinton for trusting me with your family photos year after year.
