When I think of the Texas panhandle, I can’t help but think of “home”. The cooler summer evenings, the lack of humidity, the beautiful sunsets and star filled skies. It all reminds me of childhood. And the evening of the Bennett family’s session was no exception. We decided on Palo Duro Canyon, which is the second largest canyon in the United States. I had been many times before as a kid, but as I began driving through the canyon to find the perfect spot for our shoot, I was just in awe of the beauty of this place. The different colors of the canyon, the sun peeking through the clouds, the perfect temperature. I couldn’t have asked for a better evening.
Even better, this was my best friend from college who I hadn’t seen in over 2 years, when her oldest was just weeks old. Stephanie and Matt have added another sweet girl to their family, and I couldn’t wait to meet her and hug Stephanie’s neck.
Stephanie and I lived on the same floor in our freshman dorm in college, and very quickly became inseparable. From (almost) all nighters, to late night in the cafeteria, dance parties in the car, and long talks at the park, our friendship only grew. She stood up as a bridesmaid in my wedding, and then I got to stand up in hers. She has been such a special friend in my life, and I wish now we were close enough to raise our babies together.
Stephanie and Matt, thank you for letting me capture your precious family. I’m so thankful for your friendship!
