We scheduled Abby’s senior session almost a month in advance, and we had no idea that the temperature that week would be over 110 degrees. I really thought I could handle the heat, but when the morning of the shoot I walked to my car from my house and was drenched in sweat, I knew the shoot would be miserable. So we rescheduled for a couple weeks later and prayed the temperature would be a little more bearable.
The day of the shoot finally came and we couldn’t have asked for a better summer evening. Rockledge Park on Lake Grapevine was the perfect location for Abby. It was 20 degrees cooler than the last day we had scheduled with a small breeze over the lake. I just knew it was going to be perfect. It was the first time meeting Abby, and she was just precious. Not only was she gorgeous to photograph, but while talking during the shoot, I realized her heart was even more beautiful. She had just returned from a mission trip with some girls from her high school where she was sharing the gospel of Jesus to the lost. And I think what was even more incredible is that she wanted no recognition. Her mom was the one sharing these things with me. She was humble about it all.
Abby, you are a beautiful person, on the inside and out. You remind me of 1 Peter 3:4 “but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious.” Good luck in your senior year and beyond. You will do great things for this world.
